Point Multipliers

The Blue Business Plus earns 2X Membership Rewards (MR) points on the first $50,000 in spend per calendar year on eligible purchases; earn 1X MR point per dollar thereafter. Terms apply.

Optimal Strategy

This card is great for lower spenders who want a simple catch-all solution. If you have a fast-growing business (and growing spending), the $50,000 cap can be limiting.

Redeeming Points

The Blue Business Plus earns MR points, and you can redeem them as a statement credit for 0.6 cents per point (CPP). 2X = 1.2%.

Points can also be transferred to Amex's airline and hotel partners to redeem for elevated value. This is one of the few ways "normal" people can fly first and business class.

Alternatives

If you want a similar card but purely focused on cash back, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card might be a better alternative. Pretty much the same thing, but replace 2X MR with 2% cash back.

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card might be a better option if you have higher spending. You only earn 1.5X Ultimate Reward (UR) points, but it's uncapped and has no annual fee.

The Capital One Spark Miles for Business is another option that earns 2X on everything, with no cap.

Earn $750 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is a great “everything else” option for your business. If combined with other Chase cards, the points can be substantially more valuable whether you’re using the “Pay Yourself Back” program or redeeming for travel.

If you are a business owner with strong credit who travels frequently, the Capital One Spark Miles for Business may be a good choice. Use miles on travel partners, flights, hotels, vacation packages, and more.

Main Takeaway

The Blue Business Plus is a great option if you're looking for a catch-all business card and you're not planning to spend more than $50,000 on the card.
